Chris Licht, CNN’s new CEO, announced Thursday that the network would remove Don Lemon from his prime-time slot and cancel Don Lemon Tonight.
Lemon is getting off easier than Brian Stelter, Chris Cuomo and John Harwood who all were recently shown the door. Apparently Licht thinks he can turn him from the Dark Side believing there is still good in him.
Lemon will join White House correspondent Kaitlan Collins and anchor Poppy Harlow in a new morning show as the network tries to retain viewers.
Golden State Times was quick to provide details on the cancelation:
According to Don Lemon’s Twitter account he was apparently on an airplane, and was not informed of the decision before his flight. So his social media producer had to jump on and make a statement for Lemon.
Twitter responded immediately with comments, most of them hilarious. One Twitter User Christian Faye Congratulating Lemon from going to a Primetime show nobody watches, to a morning show that nobody watches.
In reference to a Tweet Don Lemon sent asking what happened while he was in the air, Twitter ser Contra_Roma responded “ You were Canceled, thats what happened”
Twitter user Jack Lombardi stated that “Going woke, means going Broke”
