An accident has occurred involving a motorcade carrying Vice President Kamala Harris. Details are still emerging, but questions are already being raised about what caused the crash and who is at fault.
An accident involving Vice President Kamala Harris’ motorcade this week is causing confusion after the Secret Service was slow to disclose the incident.
The Daily Wire writes, A single-car accident took place in a tunnel in the DC Foggy Bottom neighborhood as Harris made her way to the White House Monday morning. A wheel of the car she was driving was disabled when it hit a curb. Despite being uninjured, Harris had to be transferred to another vehicle.
As sirens blare in the background of a TikTok video that purportedly showed the aftermath of the crash, several black SUVs are seen stopped at the entrance of the tunnel.
“During a protective movement Monday, a vehicle in a motorcade had a minor overcorrection and struck a curb,” Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi told The Washington Post Wednesday night. “The protectee was transferred to a secondary vehicle, and the motorcade continued to its destination. There were no injuries to anyone.”
Secret Service officials initially described the incident as a “mechanical failure,” which seems contradictory to Guglielmi’s statement. No explanation was provided for why the accident was not disclosed for two days.
According to Guglielmi, the agents involved in the fender bender reported the incident as a “mechanical failure.”
The Post reported that Secret Service sources and Harris questioned how highly trained agents could have an accident on such a routine trip. Possibly even more disturbing was the fact that key details were omitted in an electronic message to senior leadership.
The Post reported that Secret Service Director Kim Cheatle only learned what had happened late Monday afternoon.
