The Biden administration was given a glimpse this week of the impact of mass immigrant releases in border communities by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, who dropped off immigrants in front of Vice President Kamala Harris’s home in Washington.
According to the Washington Examiner, an estimated 50 people exited a bus outside Harris’s estate in the northwest quadrant of Washington on Thursday morning. About three miles from the White House, Harris and previous vice presidents live in a large white house on the grounds of the Naval Observatory.
According to NBC News, one passenger who arrived in the nation’s capital Thursday said he had a positive experience on board and was treated well.
Abbott has directed buses to Harris’s front door four times. The majority of buses arriving from Texas drop off at Union Station near the US Capitol. Kamala Harris did not exit her home to greet the immigrants.
As noted by the Daily Wire, The Republican governor is one of three governors to send migrants elsewhere in response to President Biden’s border policies.
Nearly 2,000 migrants have reportedly been sent to Washington over the past four months by Arizona Republican Governor Doug Ducey and two planes carrying migrants from Florida to Martha’s Vineyard were flown by Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis last month.
