Democrat Tulsi Gabbard has left the party, calling its leadership “an elitist cabal of warmongers.”
According to Newsweek, in a video posted on Twitter, Gabbard, who unsuccessfully ran for the Democratic Party presidential nomination in 2020, claimed that the Democrats were stoking “anti-white racism” and bringing us “ever closer to war.”
Tulsi Gabbard made the announcement on the launch of her new show, called The Tulsi Gabbard Show, with a 28-minute episode entitled “Why I’m leaving the Democratic Party”.
From 2013 to 2021, Gabbard represented Hawaii’s 2nd congressional district in the House of Representatives.
Twitter users were divided about Gabbard’s decision.
Some were disappointed, with one user writing, “I think it’s imperative that reasonable people stay in the democratic party. I disagree with your decision but it’s yours to make.”
Another tweeted an attack on the congresswoman, writing, “You never were in the democrat party you were and will always be a traitor to your country. Sit down”
However, many comments were positive, championing the former congresswoman for her decision.
One Twitter user wrote, “Thank you for speaking out against the evil intentions we’re all seeing and many have confronted. It will take all of us to reverse its course.”
And another said, “So glad you got out. Welcome to freedom.”
