A Disgusting act of vandalism towards a beloved president caught on camera in the new crime capital of America.
Just about every nation’s history is rooted in some violence and America is no different. This disturbing theme of vandals over the years shows how little respect some people have for our history and our culture. Abraham Lincoln was not perfect and he deserves by far more respect than this recent vandalization.
The Chicago Tribune reports, that a statue of a young Abraham Lincoln in Senn Park in Chicago’s Edgewater neighborhood was covered in red paint along with the words “COLONIZER” and “LAND BACK” on Thanksgiving.
The statue also had “Dakota 38” written on it, in reference to the Dakota Sioux members Lincoln executed following the Dakota War of 1862.
It has become a recurring theme among anti-colonizer activists across the country who disagree with the way America was established. Yet here they are still enjoying their freedom of speech in a country rife with diverse colonizers.
Diversity Inc also reports, A Christopher Columbus statue was defaced in San Francisco on a Sunday in 2019, according to KPIX News.
A statue on Telegraph Hill in Little Italy had been painted red with the words “Destroy all monuments of genocide” and “Kill all colonizers.” scrawled underneath.
Italian community members consider the statue to be a source of pride and a vital part of their neighborhood’s Italian Heritage Day parade.
It seems like everywhere you look these days, someone is trying to tear down a statue. From Confederate generals to colonial-era explorers, it seems that no one is safe from the wrath of the social justice mob. But while it is certainly true that everyone has a right to their opinion about history, that does not give them the right to vandalize public property. In a law-abiding society, those who engage in such behavior would be swiftly arrested and punished. However, in many cities across America, such lawlessness is becoming the norm. Chicago has become the crime capital of the country so vandalizations like that of Honest Abe is nothing but a drop in a bucket. But rather than denounce small crimes, many city leaders have chosen to turn a blind eye. As a result, our historical monuments are being destroyed and our cities descending into lawlessness. If we want to preserve our history, we need to start enforcing the law.
