On Sunday, a journalist questioned a top White House advisor about President Joe Biden’s decision to skip the southern border during his recent Arizona visit.
After Biden said earlier this month that he was forgoing a trip to the border due to “more important things going on,” Margaret Brennan, moderator of CBS News’ “Face the Nation,” challenged Keisha Lance Bottoms, director of Public Engagement at the White House, to explain.
Despite illegal crossings hitting record highs, Biden has yet to visit the border during his presidency.
Earlier this month, Biden defended himself from criticism that he should visit the border. While confronted by reporters about his trip not involving plans to visit the southern border, Biden stated, “There are more important things going on.”
The Federation for American Immigration Reform estimates that 4.9 million migrants have crossed into the United States under President Joe Biden’s administration. Between October 2021 and July 2022, 66 individuals from the terror watchlist crossed the border; in the previous five years combined, only 30 aliens had been apprehended.
When the White House advisor was confronted on the air with a question about President Joe Biden’s poor judgment revealing that he prioritized “more important things” over assessing America’s border crisis, it highlighted the lack of responsibility and accountability from the leadership. This poor handler was caught in an awkward predicament, having to answer for Biden’s poor choice words yet unable to do anything to address the underlying problem. This is indicative of a larger trend of poor security and mismanagement of America’s border crisis, one which requires swift and decisive action from our leaders. It has become increasingly clear that this administration does not have the will or capacity to adequately address our border crisis, leaving serious questions about their ability to properly handle these matters with any sort of competence. Title 42 may have been extended at the last minute, but when the time comes around for it to end again, we are just going to see the Biden administration pointing fingers at Republicans and having no real plan for the future influx of migrants hoping to cross into our borders.
