In an interview with CNN, Rep. Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) said she believes Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) kicked Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) off of the Intelligence committee because he had an “incisive ability to communicate.”
AOC is fresh off of her temper tantrum on the House floor last week, where she claimed Ilhan Omar’s removal from the Intelligence committee was about “targeting women of color in the United States of America.”
Over the weekend, Townhall reported that CNN anchor John Berman pointed out AOC’s claim that Republicans kicked Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) off of the Foreign Affairs Committee because of racism and sexism rings hollow due to the fact Swalwell and Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) are both white men.
According to McCarthy, Swalwell’s removal from the Intelligence Committee was due to the FBI’s briefing about Swalwell’s year-long relationship with a Chinese Communist Party spy in his early congressional career.
Swalwell can serve on any committee, but not one with major national security implications, McCarthy made clear.
In the face of baseless accusations against the Republican party, Rep. Ocasio-Cortez’s most recent theory that claims Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) kicked Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) off of the Intelligence committee due to his ‘incisive ability to communicate’ is nothing more than a feeble attempt to spread misinformation. Not only is this uneducated statement rooted in nothing, it only serves to create noise around a serious topic involving national security. This type of rhetoric coming from an elected official does nothing for our nation’s democratic process and threatens its core values. Eric Swallwell, Ilgan Omar, and Adam Schiff are all compromised in one way or another, and simply do not deserve to serve on the Intelligence Committee.
