Things are about to get interesting! It’s been speculated that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis really does have something big cooking up for 2024, and now we finally have the scoop. So now, let’s not waste any more time — let’s dive into everything you need to know about DeSantis’ 2024 plan!
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is “almost certainly” going to run for the GOP nomination in 2024, according to sources close to him. As a result, Donald J. Trump and him will face off in a grueling head-to-head battle.
In a report by The Hill, Governor DeSantis is expected to seek the GOP’s presidential nomination almost certainly. He has begun interviewing potential hires for a campaign and is determining when it is best to announce his intentions.
The Hill also reported that a final announcement would not come for several months. This is because Governor DeSantis wants to hold off on making a public announcement until the end of the regular legislative session in May. DeSantis’ announcement is likely to come in late May or early June, according to two sources cited by the outlet.
But that does not mean DeSantis isn’t close to making his decision despite the months he has spent waiting. One source quoted by The Hill says his mind is nearly made up and he plans to run.
One source was quoted saying, “I think his mind is pretty much made up at this point. My read on it is: Let’s get through the legislative session, get some stuff done and see where things stand. But unless something changes drastically between now and then, I’d say he’s a go.”
The Florida governor recently responded to Trump’s intensifying broadsides against him as the war of words between the two potential front-runners for the GOP primary in 2024 escalates.
During a press conference on Wednesday, DeSantis took a jab at Trump, telling reporters, “I spend my time delivering results for the people of Florida and fighting against Joe Biden…I don’t spend my time trying to smear other Republicans.”
As noted by Trending Politics, it may be that DeSantis decides to run now because he has momentum thanks to his high-profile battles with Disney, his fight with the college board over AP African American history, his sending migrants to Martha’s Vineyard, and the good feelings he left during the Covid pandemic during which he kept Florida mostly open.
Even if DeSantis feels like this is his movement, he will need to overcome President Trump to win the GOP nomination. The MAGA movement could be fractured, regardless of the ultimate outcome, if this were to happen – leading to a depressed voter turnout and guaranteeing a Democrat victory.
There is no doubt that Republican Florida governor Ron DeSantis is one of the favorites to compete in the 2024 nomination, but he should know better than to challenge President Donald Trump in an election. It would surely be unwise and detrimental for DeSantis to openly compete with Trump given the respect and admiration that Americans have fostered for President Trump over these past years. In order to preserve the party’s unity, DeSantis should wait until 2028 to run for the Presidency. Now, we must all throw our support behind Trump with full conviction in order to fire Joe Biden and begin to make America Great Again, again!
