A CNN spokesperson declined to address the issue of female staffers threatening to leave unless Lemon does.
Asked if the latest scandal is pushing Don Lemon towards the exit door, another CNN spokesperson told DailyMail.com, ‘it is patently false to say Don is being pushed to resign’.
In spite of this, CNN insiders insist, ‘CNN has been literally, flooded like a tidal wave with extremely angry and offended loyal viewers’.
‘There is not one person at CNN who that thinks that he should remain on air. He knows how badly he screwed up and he also knows that he cannot talk his way out of this one. His apology meant nothing.’
Earlier, Licht had condemned Lemon’s remarks as “upsetting.”
Additionally, Lemon apologized for his remarks as “inartful and irrelevant.”
Lemon missed the show Friday, although his absence had been announced on Thursday. On Monday, he was absent once again.
According to The New York Times, CNN CEO Chris Licht wrote in a memo late Monday night that Lemon “has agreed to take formal training” over his comments and the network takes “this situation seriously,”
