Have you heard? There’s a ‘big’ immigration problem boiling up along the American-Canadian border that most pro- illegal immigration voters are upset at this latest terrible development. Unsurprisingly, these illegal immigrants are slipping through undetected and wreaking havoc on their neighborhoods. How just utterly disheartening for a state that has long championed open immigration policies!
Local authorities and state governments in the northeast U.S are asking for more help from the federal government as they struggle to manage an influx of illegal immigrants crossing from Canada into the U.S borders. Reason being, these illegal immigrants put additional strain on local resources, and communities that were ill-prepared for such a high influx and quickly becoming overwhelming.Â
Daily wire reports, in the two years between October 1, 2022, and February 28, 2019, around 2,000 Mexican migrants illegally crossed the Swanton Sector, an area of 24,000 square miles between Canada, New York, New Hampshire, and Vermont.
Did you hear that? 2,000.
According to NBC News, only 200 such crossings were recorded during the same period last year, and the spike is alarming Americans living near the northern border.
Here’s an MSNBC reporter who’s actually taking this news seriously.
A Champlain County, New York, resident said, “People are scared. It’s the fear of the unknown. They’re [neighbors] worried about their safety, because they don’t know these people.”
Oh NO! it gets worse. According to another New York resident,” illegal immigrants have shown up at her home, leading her to set up security cameras.”
As a result of a policy change in 2016, Mexican migrants no longer need visas to enter Canada. In order to enter America illegally, the migrants attempt an illegal crossing from the north rather than walking across the southern border.
According to NBC, the northern border has only 2,000 Border Patrol agents for a stretch of 5,000 miles, while the U.S.-Mexico border has 16,000 agents for 2,000 miles.
In a letter sent earlier this week to Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, Republican Governor Chris Sununu requested more federal agents assist at his state’s border with Canada or for state authorities to take more action to stop illegal crossings.
Although, yes. One illegal immigrant into our country is absolutely unacceptable but we can not treat this kind of news as being of the utmost importance; especially when the state of New York is one of the many states that support those Biden policies. If any border crisis is going to be attended to first, it better be in part of the country where things are disastrous. Unfortunately, 2,000 migrants into New York isn’t breaking news. When migrants start buying tickets by the hundreds of thousands to go to Canada to enter the country illegally, call us. Until then, tell them to send help to any southern border first.
