What had been a regular town before the disaster is now an uprising ground where #EastPalestinePlight is trending on social media – demanding recognition and action as citizens struggle to get heard amidst mega donors with deep pockets, propelling Biden to take charge while they are cast aside in this injustice.
Daily Caller reports, in recent weeks, Joe Biden has traveled the country and gone abroad, but has yet to visit East Palestine, Ohio, two weeks after saying he would.
State officials and local residents told the Daily Caller Biden’s lack of on-the-ground response constitutes a “disaster” and “fail” for the president, who promised to visit the town on March 2, nearly a month after toxic chemicals spilled into the air as a result of a nearby train derailment.
J.D. Vance, a Republican senator from Ohio, criticized the president for bailing out the banks instead of visiting a toxic waste site in East Palestine.
JD Vance stated “Biden himself has either been preoccupied with traveling to Ukraine or bank bailouts for Silicon Valley. It all amounts to a masterclass in government incompetence. Joe Biden has failed this test and the people of East Palestine are suffering the consequences,”
To promote his administration’s efforts on gun control, Social Security and Medicare, pharmaceuticals, and “voting rights,” Biden has traveled to Alabama, Pennsylvania, California and Nevada since March 2. He has also attended two Democratic National Committee (DNC) dinners during his travels and traveled to Delaware over the weekends to spend time in his personal residence.
The White House refused to confirm whether the president has officially put East Palestine on his travel agenda. He administration pointed to the response of various federal agencies that have traveled to the site of the incident when questioned about Biden’s absence.
While Biden refused to acknowledge East Palestine, he spent plenty of time on TV about the SVB bank bailouts.
Despite taking 10 days to comment on the East Palestine disaster, Biden woke up early on Monday to make a public announcement about bailing out Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank.
Some East Palestine residents expressed their frustration with Biden’s choices to travel across the country and bail out banks instead of paying a visit to one of the biggest environmental disasters of his administration.
DJ Yokley, a business owner in East Palestine, told the Caller that he thinks “it’s unfortunate for the American citizens to watch a leader of the free world, and someone that was elected to a job, fail from a leadership perspective.”
East Palestine’s derailed train crisis has been a cover-up scandal of epic proportions. It is impossible to think that a modern President would call for bank officials who failed their clients to be fired, yet not call for the same terminations at Norfolk Southern. Or maybe East Palestine is too dangerous for Biden to go, and secret service will not let him. However, despite cries for help in the wake of the disaster and pleas to President Biden, state leaders have turned a blind eye – instead funding bailouts for mega donors, leaving locals to face injustice alone. Biden’s neglect has unleashed righteous anger across America, exposing what some consider to be an act of corporate greed from his administration. Even Republicans are siding with Ohioans in their demand for answers. Are cover-ups and tech elite more important than truth and justice? In this case, it appears so – unless Biden takes action soon to cover the cover-up.
