Desperation has certainly become a popular sport among democrat leaning news outlets. Whether it be using blatant media bias and blurred stories or incessant ranting about the President and those who agree with him, these outlets are willing to do almost anything to entice the public to attempt to stay afloat in their ratings. Unfortunately, the public isn’t buying what they’re selling; in fact, it’s almost like they know how the sausage is made.Â
CNN had high hopes when they added Bill Maher to their Friday night lineup in February, but the latest ratings show that it didn’t quite work out as planned. The audience dropped by nearly 50 percent during the 15-minute timeslot, meaning CNN was unable to close the sizable rating gap they were looking to address. It’ll be interesting to see how this move affects the ratings in the coming weeks, although the writing’s already on the wall.Â
The Washington Examiner reports, the Nielsen Research Data shows CNN has lost 47% of its viewers between 11:30pm and 11:44pm ever since January. During the same period, they also lost 58% of their key advertiser-targeted 25-54 demographic.
Between February and early March, Real Time with Bill Maher: Overtime on CNN averaged just 368,000 total viewers and 74,000 viewers in the key demographic.
CNN has been reworking its late-night and prime-time lineup since firing 9 p.m. host Chris Cuomo at the end of 2021 and moving Don Lemon to mornings.
The network’s executives were reportedly considering adding “news entertainment” personalities to its evening lineup, and Maher seemed an obvious choice.
After watching some Bill Maher, everyone can tell he’s the only show holding that network together.

On Fox News Channel, they have a comedic late-night show called Gutfeld! In the same period, the show averaged 1.9 million viewers, hosted by snarky, conservative Greg Gutfeld. According to Nielsen ratings, Gutfeld’s show regularly draws a larger audience than Jimmy Fallon on NBC, Jimmy Kimmel on ABC, and Stephen Colbert on CBS.
This year, Fox News bought a Super Bowl commercial touting Gutfeld’s ratings success as the “New King of Late Night.”
Imagine if Bill Maher chose to retire today. CNN would be royally screwed. There is no one left to save them at this point. The network has alienated themselves and this is the price they deserve to pay. We’re waiting for the day they officially close their doors and go bankrupt. That will be a great day for America.
