Sheriffs in conservative states are built differently. Especially Sheriffs in Florida who are fed up with society’s and gun control rhetoric every time some unhinged individual decides to do something criminal with a gun. One Sheriff went off on a reporter for trying to politicize a tragic moment.
In a press conference held after three teenagers were killed in a shooting last month, a Florida sheriff Billy Woods slammed gun control advocates for attempting to divert the conversation away from the actual crime and blame everything on gun control.
During a press conference, Marion County Sheriff Billy Woods erupted as reporters tried to take advantage of the deaths for gun control advocacy.
The sheriff exploded saying, “There are individuals out there viewing, and includes some of you media, that want to blame the one thing that has no ability or the capacity to commit the crime itself, and that’s the gun. These individuals committed the crime.”
Adding,“All the gun laws we got in place didn’t prevent it did it! The bad guy’s gonna get a gun no matter what law you have put in place,” Woods said, after noting the suspects involved in the shooting are believed to have stolen the weapons during car burglaries.
Woods said the three teenagers killed in the shootings were friends of the suspects and may have been involved in robberies and burglaries. They were also associated with gangs, despite not even being 18 years old.
The sheriff also blamed society and the education system for failing to hold American teenagers accountable.
How his most compelling argument is one we conservatives consistently make but democrats love to ignore.
The Sheriff is absolutely right that society has failed our juveniles but what he neglected to drive home was the fact that parents need to start holding their own kids accountable because it all starts at home. The teachers didn’t have those kids, but the parents did. We live in a society where children are running the household and that’s why we have 12 year olds killing high school students and vice versa. Teachers are not disciplinarians for our children, parents should be that for their own children.
