Recall the job of the “overseer” for those slave-era plantations? “Overseers supervised the slave plantations” for the slave owners in the day, reminds Encyclopedia.com. In today’s world, liberal plantations have taken the place of slave plantations, albeit to the same effect. Just as overseers targeted slaves who dared to try and leave the slave plantation, so too do today’s liberal plantations target black Americans who dare to leave the liberal plantation. This problem surfaced yet again this week when The View’s co-host Joy Behar took on the role of liberal plantation overseer by targeting South Carolina Senator Tim Scott, a newly declared GOP presidential candidate, and an African American.
Paired with Senator Scott as a Behar target was, but of course, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. Said the white liberal Behar of the African-American Scott and Thomas: “He is not pro-choice and he’s one of these guys, he’s like Clarence Thomas – a black Republican who believes in pulling yourself by your bootstraps, rather than, to me, understanding the systemic racism that African Americans face in this country and other minorities. He doesn’t get it, and neither does Clarence, and that’s why they’re Republicans.” Which is to say the white liberal, wealthy TV host, in her role as an overseer of the liberal plantation, is livid that a black man had the temerity to think for himself and long ago leave the liberal plantation.
Yet another black man who has received similar treatment from white liberals enraged that he is also long ago left the liberal plantation is Dr. Ben Carson. Said Dr. Carson of white liberals to Mark Levin on the latter’s radio show back there in 2013: “They’re the most racist people there are. Because they put you in a little category, a box: ‘You have to think this way, how could you dare to come off the plantation?”
And that is exactly the thinking of Joy Behar. Senator Scott and Justice Thomas long ago left the liberal plantation – and Behar, in her role as the white liberal plantation overseer, is most unhappy. How dare they? My Newsmax colleague Deneen Borelli, a black woman who is a conservative, has written an entire book on this topic back in 2012, titled Blacklash: How Obama and the Left Are Driving Americans to the Government Plantation.
In her book, Deneen goes into serious detail about the reaction she has received from liberals out there who resent her presence in the media because she is both black and conservative. After listing some of the despicable e-mails and tweets that she gets that are seriously obscene she writes: “Clearly my visibility as a conservative activist and on television, where I express the benefits of individualism, limited government, and liberty, threatens the radical fringe of the progressive movement whose policies are designed to limit individual liberty and keep black Americans on the government plantation.”
Note that Behar also said that “understanding the systemic racism that African Americans face in this country” is something Senator Scott is unable to do. Dr. Carson, who has his own book out there, writes: “I will readily admit that there are still vestiges of racism in our society, but as a Black man living every day in America, I rarely feel persecuted or disadvantaged unless I am dealing with members of the progressive left. These individuals seem to feel entitled to be able to determine what a Black person in America would think and what philosophies they should adopt. In fact,
