Are you ready for a nation overrun with violent crime? Brace yourself, because Biden has just sided with the radical left and vetoed a Republican effort to prevent Washington D.C.’s police reform bill from going into effect. But Biden doesn’t seem to care, choosing instead to pander to the woke mob and their anti-police agenda.
The American people are once again betrayed by President Joe Biden, who vetoed a congressional effort to overturn a dangerous police reform bill that will put citizens’ lives at risk. This is a slap in the face to law enforcement officers who risk their lives every day to protect their communities. The bill’s implementation comes on the third anniversary of George Floyd’s murder, a tragedy that should not be used to push a far-left agenda.
On Twitter, Biden wrote, “Earlier, I vetoed a Congressional Republican resolution that’d overturn common sense local police reforms in Washington, D.C. – like chokehold bans and limits on force – passed in the wake of George Floyd’s murder. I don’t support everything about this bill, but I think overall it improves both public safety and public trust. And at the end of the day: I think Congress would be better off spending its time coming together to pass common sense police reform legislation.”
In March while lawmakers were still debating the crime bill, DC’s own Police Chief Robert Contee offered a simple solution for reducing crime: “Keep violent people in jail.”
The so-called “commonsense local police reforms” in Washington, D.C. are nothing but a delusional pipe dream of radical leftists who are more concerned about appeasing woke activists than keeping citizens safe. These reforms include a reckless ban on chokeholds and limits on the use of force by law enforcement officers. This will only embolden criminals who will take advantage of these limitations to wreak havoc and threaten the peace of our communities.
Biden’s decision to veto the disapproval resolution passed by the House and Senate is a clear signal that he is willing to undermine the will of the people and promote his party’s radical agenda. By doing so, he has shown a complete disregard for the democratic process and the rule of law.
In addition, the reforms passed by the district council last year are a clear example of how Democrat-led cities are willing to put citizens at risk by capitulating to the demands of radical leftists who seek to destroy our communities. This bill reinforces the misguided notion that all law enforcement officers are racist and that they systematically target minorities. This is an insult to the brave men and women in blue who risk their lives to protect us and reflects a deep-seated hatred of our law enforcement officers
At the end of the day, Joe Biden has shown where his loyalties lie – with the radical left and their anti-police, anti-safety agenda. With this veto, Biden has put the safety of our communities and our law enforcement officers at risk, all in the name of political expediency.
