As Ukraine and the West hype up their supposed counter-offensive, some may assume Russia is simply waiting for their move. However, they couldn’t be more mistaken.

US Senator Lindsey Graham recently made the bold claim that Russia would be in for a “rude awakening” when Ukraine’s operation begins. While Ukraine has escalated attacks on Russian targets and attempted to infiltrate with special forces teams, Russia remains focused on eliminating Ukrainian military personnel and installations. The glaring difference in strategy reveals Ukraine’s penchant for targeting civilian areas while Russia zeroes in on military targets.

Recent reports show numerous explosions occurring across Ukraine: in Kiev, Kherson, Kharkov, and the Sumy region. Meanwhile, Russian forces have conducted extensive airstrikes on Ukrainian positions in Zaporozhye Oblasts. These strikes appear to be aimed at forcing Ukraine to use valuable air defense assets against low-cost drones, diminishing their capability to protect critical national infrastructure.

Although the media spotlight has often been on the Wagner Group, it seems Russia is shifting the information operation back to the Chechen-based Akhmat battalion. According to the head of the PMG Wagner, the battalion is focusing on liberating specific areas of the DPR rather than the entire region.

In essence, Russia presses Ukraine along the front lines and strikes military targets near the Polish border with Ukraine left struggling for a response. Despite Western media neglecting to report on Russian activities, it’s clear that Russia is far from passive. At the very least, they’re ensuring a restless night’s sleep for Kiev and Lviv’s political and military officials.
