The City of San Francisco, known for its problems with crime and homelessness, has launched a $6 million video advertising campaign to try and attract tourists once again. The campaign shows people enjoying the landmarks of the city but will it be enough to overcome the damage done by negative press? San Francisco saw a partial recovery in tourism last year, with spending more than doubling compared with 2021, but unfortunately, high-profile crime incidents this year and a string of retail closures in the tourist-heavy Powell Street area have dampened the city’s image. Will San Francisco be able to recover or will tourists continue to stay away?
