**Six Flags Raises Eyebrows with All-Age Drag Shows at Theme Parks Nationwide**
In a surprising move to celebrate Pride Month, Six Flags theme parks throughout the United States have announced that they will be hosting all-ages drag shows in parks across the country throughout the month of June.
Six Flags Over Texas declared that their content would be family-friendly with a PG rating, making it inclusive for all ages. Parents and guardians of children under 17, however, are encouraged to consult beforehand if they have concerns.
These drag shows are scheduled to take place on Friday and Saturday nights in various parks throughout June, including Six Flags Over Texas, Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in California, Six Flags New England, and Six Flags America in Maryland.
The Pride After Hours event in California’s Discovery Kingdom will display drag queens from the Bay Area, with Drag Queen Margo as one of the performers. Maryland’s Six Flags America will hold celebrations from June 20 to the 25th.
Infamously known as the “PRIDEmosphere,” Six Flags New England will transform its appearance with rainbow decor, balloons, street performers, and interactive photo opportunities. Drummers, stilt walkers, and balloon artists decked in pride colors will be present too. In addition, the park will house seven 20-foot rainbows throughout Main Street to elevate their Pride transformation.
Despite the PG-rating and family-friendly intent, these all-ages drag shows have met with mixed responses. Some argue that the events demonstrate inclusivity, while others believe they leave parents with difficult questions surrounding their children’s exposure to such performances.
