**Mark Wahlberg Advocates for “Hollywood 2.0” in Las Vegas**

Hollywood heavyweight Mark Wahlberg is pushing for tax incentives to attract the film and television industry to Las Vegas, hoping to create jobs and diversify the economy of Nevada. With representatives from major entertainment players on his side, the actor recognizes that the key to success will be proving the validity of the proposed model.

Last week, Mark Wahlberg made a case at Nevada’s capital, Carson City, for a bill aiming to shift film production to Las Vegas by raising tax credits to $190 million over 20 years. This move would support job growth and reduce the reliance on the gaming industry for state revenue. Backed by higher-ups from Sony Pictures and Howard Hughes Corp., the bill includes plans for the construction of two production studios in Vegas, bolstering the local economy.

Despite the enthusiasm, some question the wisdom of providing tax credits to attract the entertainment industry. The Nevada Policy Research Institute, a limited-government nonprofit, warns that tax credits often cost more than they recoup. Additionally, left-leaning Battle Born Progress condemns using the public purse to attract private businesses.

Notwithstanding the opposition, Wahlberg remains confident in the potential of a flourishing Las Vegas film scene. Along with relocating his family for a better life, he’s brought film talent to the area, citing affordable housing and strong communities as key factors in relocating from California. Wahlberg has pledged to invest his money to develop what he calls “Hollywood 2.0” in Las Vegas, and he has the support of Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo (R), who shares his vision for job growth in areas other than gaming.
