In a harrowing case, Florida police have levied nearly 50 criminal charges against Shawn Stone, 32, and his girlfriend, Taylor Schaefer, for allegedly abusing multiple children repeatedly. The initial arrest of Stone occurred on May 9, after Schaefer reported to the police that Stone had abused her children. Stone allegedly beat Schaefer’s 5-year-old son for wetting the bed, which resulted in a skull fracture. This particular incident was captured on home surveillance footage, leading to a charge of aggravated child abuse filed against Stone.

Recently, the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office announced that 25 charges have been filed against Schaefer, alleging her complicity in the abuse by consistently witnessing it but failing to report or intervene. Stone faces an additional 23 charges, according to the Daytona Beach News Journal. Schaefer is accused of neglecting her children and failing to provide medical attention, while Stone allegedly tied the 5-year-old’s hands behind his back for an entire day, among other abuses.

The 5-year-old in question was purportedly subjected to cruel punishment, including being tied up, placed in a dog cage, and deprived of food. Another child was reportedly forced to drink boiling water and was beaten with various household objects. Evidence also suggests that a third child suffered due to neglect of proper nutrition and care for a serious medical condition.
