Senator Marsha Blackburn has reintroduced the End Child Trafficking Now Act to address the growing concern of illegal immigrants using minors to gain entry to the US. Her bill would require DNA testing to confirm any relationships between adults and children who cross the border and mandate a 10-year prison sentence for illegal immigrants who fabricate family ties or guardianship over a minor. It would also criminalize “child recycling,” a horrifying practice where the same child is used repeatedly by illegal immigrant adults who are neither relatives nor legal guardians to gain entry. The Biden administration ending all familial DNA testing at the border could lead to an uptick in more migrants using minors to falsely present themselves as family and seek asylum.
