Left-wing megadonor George Soros is tapping his 37-year-old son to take control of the $25 billion empire he built on the back of global stock, bond, and currency markets. Soros, who became a major backer of leftist causes through his nonprofit Open Society Foundations, funds political action committees and organizations that promote progressive policies. His foundation reportedly directs approximately $1.5 billion annually to these groups worldwide.
However, Soros had previously said that he would not allow any of his five children to take over his organization. Despite this, Soros has now passed the reins to his son Alex, prompting speculation over the future of the organizations that have received funding from the foundation that has supported several leftist activist groups around the world.
Although Soros has championed the liberal agenda, his son has signalled his intention to be even more politically active than his father, and to broaden his father’s vision for a more liberal society. Alex has already met with Biden administration officials, Democratic lawmakers, and other government leaders including Brazil’s President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
It is clear that the Soros legacy of funding progressive causes will continue and potentially even become more aggressive. Alex Soros has already indicated that the Open Society Foundations will play a significant financial role in the 2024 presidential race. He stated that as much as he would love to get money out of politics, as long as the opposing side is doing it, we will have to do it too.
Federal Election Commission records reported by The New York Post show that Alex has donated $726,900 to the Biden Victory Fund for the 2020 election, and he has contributed approximately $11 million to left-wing PACs since 2010. It is important to note that these PACs are not transparent about how they use their funds.
The left-wing billionaire philanthropist and political activist George Soros has long been involved in funding initiatives geared towards the progressive agenda. His foundation has been known to promote an open border policy, supports the defunding of the police, and has called for the transformation of the criminal justice system. What Soros and his son Alex are doing is using their vast resources to impose their political beliefs on society, without the democratic process having a chance to work.
The Soros empire’s influence in politics is unprecedented and concerning. It is not democracy when a billionaire philanthropist can spend millions of dollars supporting causes that will ultimately benefit the few and not the many. In a true democracy, the voice of the people is heard, not the deep pockets of a far-left liberal activist. For the Open Society Foundations to continue to do so without transparency and accountability, is a sad day for democracy.
