Republicans fought against the Biden administration’s push for divisive and discriminatory policies in military and the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The NDAA has taken significant steps to cut down race and gender-based training and initiatives. Alongside, Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN) included an amendment banning the military’s consideration of race and gender during recruitment. Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) successfully included a provision to stop drag shows on military bases. Rep. Mike Waltz (R-FL) played a role in banning taxpayer funding for Critical Race Theory. Sen. Roger Wicker (R-MS) included the Merit Act, redefining equity in all DOD policies. The bills aim to uphold merit and ability in recruitment, retention, and advancement.
