If you want a front-row seat at the parade of liberal media bias in action, look no further than the taxpayer-funded PBS NewsHour. Their recent fascination with GOP Senators who are not counting their chickens before they hatch when it comes to the 2024 election outcomes, is eye-opening.
Sticking to their weekly ritual, NewsHour indulged their viewers with another spicy scoop from NBC’s Meet the Press. This time, Kristen Welker was in the limelight, with her incessant prying of Republican senators’ stances on possible 2024 election results. This Monday night show featuring Amy Walter and NPR’s Tamara Keith took pleasure in prodding Sen. Tim Scott’s firm resolve against speculation.
This allowed NewsHour host Geoff Bennett, a former MSNBC staple, to latch onto Marco Rubio, exhibiting yet another example of the Democrats’ obsession with the 2020 election results. Bennett, nonchalant as always, painted the entire Republican party with the same broad brush of deniers, hinting at their possible refusal to accept a defeat in 2024. Interestingly though, Bennett failed to address the Democrats’ own history of refusing to accept election defeats since 2000.
It’s undeniable that Trump has not accepted his 2020 defeat, as pointed out by Keith. What was interesting to note was how she framed Republicans’ cautious voter promises as creating a ‘permission structure.’ According to her, any Republican showing a hint of critical thinking were clearly toeing the party line.
Bennett joined the chorus, lamenting the supposed damage these ‘deniers’ are causing to our democracy while questioning the political utility of rallying Republicans around this issue. But, the Democrats seem to forget that their twists on Meet the Press may serve a similar utility for the Republicans.
To the media partners in crime, it’s all about the power Trump wields over the Republican herd. Republicans trying to address questions are merely auditioning for Trump, in their view. It appears the media’s obsession lies not with the issues at stake but with the puppet master pulling the strings.
This theatrical discussion took a dramatic turn with an intriguing assertion of Republicans giving their loyalty oath to Trump. They interpreted Republicans’ trial participation as an open endorsement of Trump, signaling to their base that everything is fine.
Bennett didn’t miss the chance to point out the entrance of House Speaker Mike Johnson, whom he accused of wielding his position against the justice system for his own benefit. Their network bias becomes clear when a Democrat DA and a judge are portrayed as the sole representatives of the justice system.
Asserting her final straw, Walter floated the theory that Johnson is only playing to the home crowd, thus securing his position.
In sum, taxpayer dollars are fueling a decidedly twisted narrative, one that seems to cherry-pick facts and turn a blind eye to real issues. Critical thinking, questioning norms, and seeking truth appears to be a one-way street for these self-proclaimed intellectual heavyweights. It’s a worrying state of affairs, indeed.
