Paramount+ announces Season 5 of hit series “Yellowstone” back in production, while Kevin Costner reveals character exit offer: An Inside Look

Paramount+ has just announced that the long-awaited Season 5 of the critically acclaimed TV series “Yellowstone” has finally gone back into production in Montana after more than a year’s hiatus. The news coincides with an interview in which Kevin Costner, the show’s leading actor, revealed that he had offered to have his character killed off in order for the story to continue.

Created by Taylor Sheridan, “Yellowstone” has been a remarkable success for Paramount+, with viewers gripped by the continuing story of the Dutton family and their struggle to maintain ownership of their ranch in the face of adversity. The fifth season had been split into two parts, with the second half held up for over a year due to several factors – including filming for Costner’s new western movie “Horizon: An American Saga”, as well as the writers’ and actors’ strikes.

In an interview with GQ, Costner spoke about his affection for the show and his frustration with the production delays. He revealed that he had offered to have his character killed off so that the show could move forward without him if necessary. “I said, ‘I have a week before I start. I’ll do what you want to do.'” Despite this offer, the production team did not pursue the option, and it remains uncertain whether Costner will be returning for the final episodes of Season 5.

In the same interview, Costner expressed his disappointment with how Paramount and 101 Studios had managed the situation and addressed the false narratives that were emerging about his supposed departure from the show. However, the actor confirmed that he is open to returning if the script is up to par. “If the writing’s there and I’m happy with it, I’m open to that,” he said.

In response to Costner’s comments, Paramount released a statement to Fox News, saying, “Kevin has been a big part of ‘Yellowstone’s’ success. While we had hoped that we would continue working with him, unfortunately, we could not find a window that worked for him, all the other talent, and our production needs in order to move forward together.”

With the number of episodes in the final season still uncertain, fans are on the edge of their seats, waiting to see how the saga of the Dutton family will ultimately unfold. Nonetheless, the resumption of production in Montana is a promising sign that the end of this incredible story is finally on the horizon.

The overwhelming anticipation surrounding the final season of “Yellowstone” is a testament to the monumental impact the series has had on audiences worldwide. Whether or not Kevin Costner returns to the show, there’s no doubt that the conclusion of Season 5 will leave a lasting impression on its devoted fans. As tensions rise and the series hurdles toward its climactic finale, the excitement continues to build for what promises to be a remarkable conclusion.
