It’s no secret that CBS Mornings has brushed over Special Counsel David Weiss’ attempt to grant Hunter Biden an easy escape from his felony gun charges. They’ve also managed to turn a blind eye as other charges stand on the brink of the statute of limitations. Instead, in an elaborate display of biased reporting, their Chief Washington Correspondent Major Garrett took the opportunity to school viewers on how “the facts and the law” triumphed in both Biden and former President Trump’s convictions.
The show’s co-host, Tony Dokoupil, put forth a skewed narrative, subtly endorsing Biden’s submission to his son’s verdict and his refusal to pardon him. He subtly contrasted this with Trump’s unyielding defiance of his conviction, successfully blurring the distinction between the two. However, it’s critical to remember that Biden’s legal team were also gearing up to confront his guilty verdict, very much like Trump’s.
Garrett tried to spin the conversation around the notion of justice being administered to the ‘powerful elites,’ conveniently disregarding the politically-driven nature of Trump’s trial. The CBS reporter chose not to highlight the inconvenient truth of Manhattan D.A. Alvin Bragg’s election to office, which was pivoted around his vow to incarcerate Trump. Adding insult to injury, the inconvenient fact that the presiding judge of the trial contributed monetarily to Biden’s campaign in 2020, was also strategically omitted.
Gayle King, a known Democratic Party donor and buddy of the Obamas, eagerly wanted to know from Garrett if this verdict could potentially impact either Biden or Trump politically. Garrett’s response shed light on the left’s necessity to take charge and trivialize the issue of the justice system being politicized; the final score for the 2024 election relied on the thin margins.
This glaring media bias is furthered by the results of a Media Research Center/Polling Company survey taken post the 2020 election. The poll discovered that Biden’s campaign greatly benefited from the media’s strategic omission of significant facts and damaging revelations.
In short, this blatant manipulation of news and selective highlighting of facts has once again given way to a twisted narrative that reflects biased reporting. When news outlets control the narrative to this degree, it’s the viewers and their right to the truth that end up being the real victims. Remember, a true democracy thrives on the principle of fair and balanced journalism. Let’s demand more of the latter.
