A Florida fuel supplier has been convicted of running a massive $4.5 million fraud scheme targeting our nation's military - the very men and women who put their lives on the line to defend our freedom. Jason Butler, 37, of Jupiter, Florida, was found guilty on 34 felony counts by a federal jury for his despicable attempt to rob the Department of War blind.

According to a Department of Justice news release Friday, Butler's elaborate con game specifically targeted fuel contracts with the U.S. military. While our brave servicemembers were depending on reliable fuel supplies for critical operations, this scumbag was scheming to line his own pockets at their expense.

Another Example of Wasteful Government Spending

This conviction couldn't come at a better time, as President Trump's second administration launches its aggressive government efficiency initiative led by Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Cases like Butler's fraud scheme are exactly why Americans voted overwhelmingly to drain the swamp and stop the endless waste of taxpayer dollars.

How many other Jason Butlers are out there right now, exploiting weak oversight and bureaucratic incompetence to steal from the American people? How many millions more have been flushed down the drain while government agencies failed to protect our interests?

"This is precisely the kind of fraud and waste that the Trump administration is committed to eliminating through real accountability and efficient government operations."

The conviction sends a clear message that the days of easy money and weak enforcement are over. Under Trump's leadership, criminals who think they can rip off our military and our taxpayers are going to face real consequences.

Justice for Our Military

While Butler awaits sentencing on his 34 felony convictions, this case serves as a reminder of why President Trump's America First agenda puts our military and our people ahead of fraudsters and grifters. Every dollar stolen from our armed forces is a dollar taken away from the equipment, training, and support our troops need to keep America safe.

Patriots should be asking: How many more schemes like this are still operating under the radar? And what is the Trump administration doing to make sure this never happens again?

What's the current status of the investigation? Are there other victims we don't know about yet?

This is exactly why we need stronger oversight of military contracts. Too many vultures trying to profit off our heroes.

This hits close to home. We struggled financially during my husband's deployments while crooks like this were getting rich off military contracts. Justice needs to be served.

Absolutely disgusting! While our brave men and women are putting their lives on the line, this scumbag is stealing from them. Lock him up and throw away the key!

Florida needs to crack down harder on these fraudsters. Our military deserves better protection from these parasites.

Agreed! DeSantis should make this a priority. Zero tolerance for military fraud.

I served 22 years and saw this kind of garbage firsthand in Iraq and Afghanistan. Contractors getting rich while we ate MREs and dodged bullets.
