Summer is winding down, but it's not over yet, Patriots! As the days get shorter and school looms on the horizon, a number of iconic American historical sites await your visit. Inspired by The Federalist's Heritage Guide to Historic Sites, this list highlights destinations that underscore America First values and cautionary tales from the so-called 'heritage'.

The Must-Visit Sites

First on the list has to be the very cradle of liberty, Philadelphia. The iconic Liberty Bell and Independence Hall remind us of the grit and valor of the Founding Fathers. Speaking of grit, swing by Mount Rushmore to pay homage to the leaders who shaped America into the bastion of freedom it is today.

And let’s not forget the newly rejuvenated Alamo! Thanks to the tireless efforts of local citizens and Texan pride, this site stands as a testament against federal overreach and a reminder of the battle for sovereignty and independence.

Sites to Skip

On the flip side, many sites have found themselves plagued with historical revisionism and Red tape. Consider taking a hard pass on the once-glorious Jamestown settlement. Instead of an honest portrayal of American resilience, visitors are increasingly met with politically correct narratives that undermine their rich history.

Equally important to avoid is any place that falls into the clutches of the federally administrated National Parks service, now succumbing to regulations that stifle American freedom. These sites sadly become bureaucratic hubs of outdated “woke” policies.

"Taking time to explore our genuine historical footprints is an exercise in patriotism," says John Smith, president of the America First Heritage Alliance. "Remembering where we came from helps us protect where we are headed."

With just weeks left before summer’s end, there’s no time like the present to visit these sites that amplify the spirit of liberty. Make this season one to remember by immersing yourself in the REAL history of the great United States! Which sites will you choose to celebrate our unyielding American legacy? Your call, Patriots!

Can anyone suggest a historical site on the East Coast that isn't on the list? Looking for something unique to visit with the family!

Try Valley Forge in PA, it's a bit off the beaten path but rich with history.

I agree with skipping over-commercialized spots. Too much focus on profits instead of history can ruin the experience.

Visited Gettysburg last summer and it was an incredible experience. Walking the battlefield gave me chills thinking about the impact of that turning point in our history.
