Former New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio is proving that his reckless spending was not just limited to his time in office. He has a taste for the finer things in life that can not be resisted even as he faces enormous personal debt.

Since de Blasio’s term ended in December, he and his wife Chirlane McCray have been living in a hotel, owned by a wealthy donor, while their home in Brooklyn is being renovated. Yet this is not just your typical Travelodge or Best Western but a swanky four-star Brooklyn Bridge Hotel even though the couple has racked up $2.5 million in debt according to the Daily Mail.

The 667-room hotel with suites costs ranging from $600 up to $5,000 a night, includes an indoor pool, and fitness center that has several Peloton machines, along with two restaurants and waterfront views.

De Blasio and his wife are currently staying in one of the hotel suites with a $600 a night rate that offers a bedroom and living room. The hotel is owned by Muss Development, a Queen’s company that has been a longtime supporter of de Blasio, the New York Post reported.

Also spotted with the couple is their NYPD security detail funded by the city taxpayers.

This reckless spending comes as de Blasio left his successor Eric Adams a $5.4 billion deficit including a hiring spree after the Democratic Mayoral Primary that added $300 million to that deficit even after “Defunding the Police” by cutting $1 billion from the NYPD budget.

Do you think that de Blasio is having special interest fund his lavish lifestyle that he is unable to afford after leaving office?
