She blasted Florida Republican Senator, Marco Rubio, over defending Trump, likening him to a “dog”.
“The View” team decided to express disdain for the Republican politicians’ support for their presidential nominee. It seems that Navarro was more interested in commenting on these politicians behaving like emotional support dogs for Trump. One of these politicians, much to Navarro’s distaste, was Florida’s Marco Rubio.
Rubio drew comparisons between the Trump Trial and the communist Cuba trials post-revolution. Navarro didn’t take this lightly. She confronted Rubio about his words, claiming that he was using these events just to get closer to Trump. She further reminded Rubio not to use the names of those who sacrificed their lives for freedom in his attempts to flatter Trump.
The show’s moderator, Whoopi Goldberg, took it upon herself to question why Cuban-Americans endorse Trump. She stated, “I’ve always heard Cubans say that they never want to see communist-like rule in the US. How can it slip by them when a man says he wants to emulate it here?”
To this, Navarro responded, “Rubio knows better. He’s fully aware of his actions. He thinks that by making outrageous remarks, he’ll be rewarded with the vice presidency under Trump.”
Goldberg continued to question, wondering aloud how Rubio, or anyone for that matter, could ever conceive things being different under a dictatorship. Goldberg proclaimed the importance of knowing history, reminding everyone, “If you don’t know what happened, you don’t know what can happen.”
The hosts discussed the damaging effect of this continuous distrust on American institutions, shared by Trump and his crew. Co-host Sara Haines stated, “The current confidence in our institutions is at a staggering low, with only 27 percent of Americans trusting the Supreme Court and less than 20 percent trusting the media.”
Navarro concluded the discourse by emphasizing that Rubio’s bold and outrageous rhetoric was simply a path to secure a spot as Trump’s vice president.
