Videos found online show children engaging in various Pride-related activities, such as dancing beneath a rainbow prop and participating in parades throughout the school. Teachers and students alike can be seen donning multi-colored attire and waving rainbow flags, all in celebration of “Pride, Love, and Acceptance.”
Footage of the day’s festivities was initially posted on Twitter by Colin Barry, a fifth-grade teacher within the Newfoundland & Labrador English School District. He declared the event a successful tribute to Pride Month, sharing images of an enthusiastic “full-on DANCE PARTY” involving both faculty and students.
The reactions to these events have been diverse, with many individuals voicing disapproval. Critics argue that such overt displays of LGBTQ+ pride are inappropriate for the school environment and young children.
