**Mother and Daughter Arrested for “Horrifying” Murder of Grandmother in Maryland**
Two women, a mother and her daughter, have been arrested in Prince George’s County, Maryland, over the brutal murder and dismemberment of a 71-year-old woman. The pair are reported to have gruesomely attempted to dispose of the remains using a grill and a bonfire.
The nightmare unfolded in a Landover residence where authorities were called by a concerned neighbor who hadn’t seen the grandmother, Margaret Craig, for several days. Police arrived at the house and were greeted by 44-year-old Candice Craig, who allowed them entry. Inside the house, they found her 19-year-old daughter, Salia Hardy.
Upon descending into the basement, officers were met with a horrifying scene. There was a strong smell of decomposition, blood-stained garbage bags, and a chainsaw containing human remains. The bags contained what looked like brain matter and other body parts which a forensic investigator later confirmed as human. Additionally, police found cutting utensils, cleaning materials, and more blood spatter throughout the space.
According to the authorities, Hardy admitted that she heard her mother arguing with her grandmother after threats were made to report Hardy for credit card fraud. The following day, she claimed to have discovered Margaret Craig’s body in a blue bin. The mother-daughter duo then attempted to destroy the remains using a grill and a bonfire in their backyard, as one witness allegedly saw them doing on May 27.
As the body has been dismembered, police have noted that it will be challenging for the medical examiner to determine the exact cause of death. The gruesome case has led to Candice Craig being charged with first- and second-degree murder, while Salia Hardy faces accessory after the fact. Both have been denied bond.
**As the grueling murder case unfolds, Maryland residents are left shocked and horrified by the actions of a mother and daughter against their own family member.
