There is a battle happening in South Carolina. On its face It looks as if it’s between Republican primary candidates, but it’s really going on behind the scenes, between the better known politicians that are endorsing them.
Nikki Haley has her money behind Republican Representative Nancy Mace. Donald Trump is betting on Katie Harrington. It’s days away from the primary vote, and Nikki Haley’s choice is in the lead.
One person tweeted: “Trump losing ‘turf war’ with Nikki Haley as his handpicked candidate falters: report”
Nancy Mace is a freshman congresswoman who has blamed Trump for the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, reports Politico. Nikki Haley used to work for Donald Trump, serving as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations from 2017 to 2018. She was also the first female Governor of South Carolina. Haley has put her political might behind Mace by appearing in Mace’s TV ads, headlining a fundraiser “that raised six figures, and she is expected to close out the race by holding several events with the congresswoman,” reports Politico.
Trump has called Nancy Mace “nasty, disloyal, and bad for the Republican Party,” reported Breitbart. Of his candidate, Katie Arrington, Trump said she’s “wonderful and will do a much better job for both South Carolina and the Republican Party. Katie Arrington has my Complete and Total Endorsement!”

While it’s been reported that Haley wasn’t aware that Trump would back Arrington, she has fought particularly hard for Mace, even narrating a whole ad for her:
Both Donald Trump and Nikki Haley could run for President in 2024. They seem to be trying to gauge their own popularity by backing different candidates. Do you vote for a candidate based upon who endorses them? If not, what is your criteria when you vote?
