Subway’s Sandwiches in Russia Accused of ‘Financing War’ by Ukraine
Surprising as it may sound, your foot-long turkey sub from Subway might be footing the bill for war. Ukraine’s top anti-corruption body, the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NAZK), outrageously listed Subway as an “international sponsor of war.” Why? Because unlike other companies, Subway unabashedly flaunts over 500 active outlets in Russia, powering the Russian economy and, inevitably, its war machine. It’s high time we demand transparency and demand that global powerhouses like Subway align operations with their professed values. This unwelcome revelation sure leaves a sour taste, right before we dig into our favorite sandwich.
