Biden is getting enormous pressure from all sides, to keep Title 42 in place. He may do it too, not because it’s the right thing to do for the country, but to try to keep his party alive in November.
John Binder from Breitbart reports, President Joe Biden is considering backing down on plans to end the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Title 42 — the public health authority that has doubled as a border control measure — as Republican lawmakers head to the United States-Mexico border to sound the alarm on illegal immigration.
On Tuesday, a source told Axios that Biden and his top agency officials are considering not following through on their current plans to end the use of Title 42 on May 23 — a move that they admit could bring a wave of illegal immigration never seen before in American history.
Without Title 42, Biden officials admit that they expect up to a half a million border crossers and illegal aliens — the equivalent to the resident population of Atlanta, Georgia — to arrive at the border every month.
Already, Biden has released an unprecedented number of border crossers into American communities. From January 2021 to February 2022, Biden released more than 756,000 border crossers into the U.S. interior. In March 2022, Biden released more than 80,000 border crossers into the U.S. interior — a foreign population larger than his hometown of Scranton, Pennsylvania.
Officials in South Texas are warning that the decision to end Title 42 will cause a massive surge at the southern border. “It’s going to open up the floodgates on the border,” Maverick County Deputy Constable Frank Bowles told the Daily Caller.
The consideration to delay ending Title 42 comes as at least 10 Democrats in Congress have joined with Republican lawmakers to oppose Biden’s plan to end the public health order.
Arizona Democratic Sen. Mark Kelly has become one of the most recent members of Biden’s party to speak out against the decision.
“Right now, we have a crisis on our southern border. Right now, this administration does not have a plan. I warned them about this months ago,” Kelly said, according to Fox News.
Fellow Arizona Democratic Sen. Kyrsten Sinema has also spoken against ending the border policy.
“Arizona communities bear the brunt of the federal government’s failure at our border, so we’re stepping in and protecting border communities by ensuring the Administration works hand-in-hand with local leaders, law enforcement, and nonprofits to put a comprehensive, workable plan in place before lifting Title 42,” Sinema said in a statement.
Likewise, Michigan Democratic Sen. Gary Peters has spoken out against ending the measure, arguing that there must be another plan in place before ending Title 42.
“Unless we have a well-thought-out plan, I think it is something that should be revisited and perhaps delayed,” Peters told the Washington Examiner on Tuesday. “I’m going to defer judgment on that until I give the administration an opportunity to fully articulate what that plan is.”
At least seven other Democrats have openly spoken against ending Title 42. They include Delaware Sen. Chris Coons, New Hampshire Sen. Maggie Hassan, Georgia Sen. Raphael Warnock, Nevada Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin, Montana Sen. Jon Tester, and Texas Rep. Henry Cuellar.
Up to half a million migrants A MONTH are expected after Title 42 is ended. That is simply not sustainable, and more and more Democrats are admitting it. The only good thing if Biden ends it is that Republicans will have the best possible photos for their ads as to why we must vote the Dems out of office. Will Biden end Title 42 in May? Say Yes or No in the comments.
