The person responsible for Twitter’s blocking of the 2020 Hunter Biden laptop story lost her composure following the deal struck between Elon Musk and Twitter. Interestingly, she helped facilitate the negotiations, but that doesn’t mean she’s happy about the ultimate outcome.
Of course she’s despondent. Again, she was responsible for helping to cover up a story which was so politically critical, her actions changed what very well might have been the course of this country. That action alone tells us everything we need to know about top Twitter lawyer Vijaya Gadde. Key point: she has been known internally as Twitter’s “moral authority.”
Gadde seems to have had good intentions. She says she wanted to protect Twitter’s most vulnerable users from hate speech and bullying. But good intentions went awry when her “protections” turned to outright censorship, in clear favor of one political party over another.
Gadde was instrumental in banning President Donald Trump from the platform, even though it allowed him to Tweet his messages out throughout the bulk of his Presidency. Of course, that gained it many followers, both fans and critics, which couldn’t have hurt Twitter’s bottom line. She was also behind Twitter’s ousting of 70,000 of what Twitter deemed to be conspiracy theory accounts after Jan. 6.
It was Gadde and her ilk at Twitter that has exasperated Elon Musk to the point where he would spend $44 BILLION to acquire the company. He believes in true freedom of speech, and not just when it is politically expedient.
Musk has said he will not moderate content on his version of Twitter, unless the law requires it. Musk has Tweeted “if people want less free speech, they will ask government to pass laws to that effect.”
