Biden was speaking at the launch of the Additive Manufacturing Forward initiative in Ohio when he started talking about a situation he had with an Amtrak worker named Angelo Negri.
Watch the clip below at the 19 minute mark.
“What’s all this I read in the paper? You travel over a million miles on Air Force planes,” Negri supposedly said.
“Every single mile the vice president or president travels, they keep a public record of on an aircraft, an American aircraft,” Biden said.
“And he said, ‘The boys and I were at the retirement dinner up in Jersey. So we figured it out. Average 222 days a year, 36 years, total of 269 miles every day. Joey,’ – and I don’t know whether it’s true or not – he said, ‘1,200,000 miles, not counted as vice president.’ So I know a lot about trains.”
CNN tracked down the story and interviewed Olga Betz, stepdaughter to the man in Biden’s story, and she could not confirm the details. She did confirm that Negri “adored” Biden and described him as “very thoughtful and personable with the conductors; knew them all by name.”
The story is not totally true though because could not have spoken to Negri seven-years into his Vice Presidential role under Barrack Obama because Negri died in 2014.
Biden previously told the story on the campaign trail after he won the Democrat nomination in October.
Joe has always been a big proponent of Amtrak and frequently rode the trains.
As compiled by Daily Mail, Biden has said the same lie on six other occasions: October, 12, 2020 he told it on a campaign stop in Ohio, April 20, 2021 in Philadelphia for the Amtrack 50th anniversary, June 29, 2021 during a speech in Wisconsin, September 21, 2021 he told the story while meeting with the UK’s Prime Minister Boris Johnson, October 20, 2021 he said it during a speech in Pennsylvania, and December 8, 2021 in Kansas City.
During his speech in Scranton, Pennsylvania on Wednesday he said, “Amtrak is here, and they can tell you…you should name half the line after me.”
Biden has repeatedly called himself the Amtrack guy.
How do you think Biden’s handlers feel trying to keep up with all this guy’s mistakes?
