Elon Musk just loooooves controversy. He has made himself into the world’s richest man through a mix of business genius and a fearless attitude towards everything he attempts. After he was threatened by the Kremlin, Musk revealed who he plans to hand Twitter off to if they kill him.
And the winner is…MrBeast the YouTube super star with over 95 million followers!
So a little background here. As you probably already know, Elon Musk bought Twitter for $44 Billion after rounding up funding and the support of enough of the Twitter board to buy it and make it private.
At the same time, Elon Musk has been using his Starlink satellites, a system of over 2000 low orbiting satellites, to beam internet into Ukraine to keep their country and military online during the Russian invasion,
Russian space chief Dmitry Rogozin seemingly threatened Musk for supporting Ukraine with Starlink, saying, “Elon Musk, thus, is involved in supplying the fascist forces in Ukraine with military communication equipment,” Rogozin wrote, according to an English translation that Musk posted. And for this, Elon, you will be held accountable like an adult — no matter how much you’ll play the fool.”
After the threat, Elon tweeted out: “If I die under mysterious circumstances, it’s been nice knowin ya!”
Playing along with Musk, MrBeast tweeted, “If anything happens can I have Twitter?” To which Musk responded, “Ok”
Then, to take a slightly more serious note on the matter, MrBeast said back, “Jokes aside, be safe! I wuv u.”
MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, is known for both his philanthropic as well as giving away large cash prizes to random fans on his YouTube channel as rewards for playing various games he sets up. It is reported that Donaldson earns roughly $1 million monthly for his videos and has an estimated net worth of $54 million according to Forbes, although that is still dwarfed by Musk’s $240 billion.
Elon Musk has donated to Donaldson’s philanthropic efforts in the past. With Elon’s personal history, would you be surprised to see him hand over Twitter to a social media expert like Donaldson?
