Following a string of controversies involving Tesla founder Elon Musk, Texas Governor Greg Abbott deleted a tweet defending Musk and welcoming him to Texas.
Late last week it was revealed that Space X had allegedly paid a former employee $250,000 for her silence after she claimed Musk had exposed himself to her and offered her a horse in return for sexual favors.
According to Insider, “Before the incident, she regarded Mr. Musk as a person to look up to. But after he exposed himself, touched her without permission, and offered to pay her for sex, she was full of anxiety.”
Elon almost immediately rejected the claims, tweeting in response, “The attacks against me should be viewed through a political lens – this is their standard (despicable) playbook – but nothing will deter me from fighting for a good future and your right to free speech.”
That’s when Governor Abbott weighed in with his own response Tweet to Musk, throwing his support behind the billionaire by essentially saying Texas will stand with him in the fight.
Within 7 minutes after the post, Abbott or a member of his team abruptly deleted the message supporting Musk, according to the Dallas Morning News.
Abbott has been very upfront about his relationship with Elon, claiming that the two of them speak often and that Musk supports the social policies of Texas. Abbott also has praised the world’s richest man’s decision to relocate to the state and bring his company with him.
While it is unclear why the Texas Governor deleted his Tweet, Musk has still spent the weekend making fun of the allegations against him. He even had a back-and-forth with one of the founders of YouTube, Chad Hurley, about the topic.
Chad tweeted for Elon to stop “horsing” around on the Twitter deal and give everyone a “happy ending”, two clear references to the allegations against Musk. Musk quickly responded “Fine, if you touch my (genitals), you can have a horse.”
Elon challenged his accuser to describe any defining features of his genitals or lower regions to prove her claims, saying she will be unable to because it never happened.
Musk also admitted over the weekend that he has a cheesy secret Instagram for his friends to send pictures to.
While Abbott’s decision to delete the tweet was most likely political, it seems undeniable that Musk is wading his way into US politics more and more these days. What do you think Musk’s plans are? Do you believe the allegations against him?
