Kamala Harris Speaks About Uvalde School Shooting

In characteristic form, the politicians are out speaking about the tragic school shooting that happened Tuesday in Uvalde, Texas. Everyone has their side, and the Democrats will now talk nothing but gun control for weeks, maybe months.

Speaking at an Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies, Kamala Harris took time to use the tragedy in Uvalde to fundraise on the issue of gun control, begging elected officials to pass reforms to ensure it “never happens again.” Here’s what she said, with her trademark weird smile in the midst of tragedy: “So while we don’t know all the details yet, we do know that there are parents who have lost children – families that have lost children – and their loved ones of course, and many others who may have been injured. So, I would normally say in a moment like this, we would also say, naturally, that our hearts break. But our hearts keep getting broken. You know, I think so many – there’s so many elected leaders in this room, you know what I’m talking about. Every time a tragedy like this happens, our hearts break. And our broken hearts are nothing compared to the broken hearts of those families. And yet it keeps happening,” Harris said, as reported by the Daily Mail.

Harris told the crowd that Joe Biden would also speak on the Uvalde shooting (you know, for his fundraising), then added: “But for now, I will just say to the people of Uvalde – Please know that this is a room full of leaders who grieve with you, and we are praying for you, and we stand with you. It is difficult at a time like this to think about much else. But I do look around this room, and I know who is here, and I know this is a room full of American leaders who knows and have the courage to take a stand.”

There is not a person with a soul that does not mourn for those 19 little children and 2 adults that were gunned down by a sick young man. Democrats began accusing Republicans for causing the tragedy the second they heard about it. But there is much legitimate debate surrounding what is causing these events to continue to occur in our country. The two parties must come together and stop acting like bitter divorcing parents who only want to prove their point and get their way, at the expense of the innocent children. Will that ever happen?
