In March 2021 Democrats unilaterally passed Joe Biden’s American Rescue Plan, aka the Covid-19 Economic Relief plan. Republicans gave the Covid Relief package zero support because of the sheer amount of fat it contained, meaning things completely unrelated to “Rescue” or “Relief.” This was a hotly contested $1.7 TRILLION package. Now the American people can see just how much fat was included.
Democrats marketed the package to the American public, who were hurting from the economic upheaval of a year long pandemic, as something that would help the United States recover from the pandemic. Research from American Crossroads, however, paints a different picture, reports Fox News.
For example, Fox News said, the University of Montana received just under half a million dollars for multiple programs on racial justice, including a public lecture series on “racial justice, death and Indigenous knowledge.”
Fox News continued: $50,000 of taxpayer money from the alleged “rescue” or “relief” package went to a nonprofit organization in the Northern Mariana Islands called 500 Sails for “reopening programs that teach Indigenous canoe-building and explore pre-colonial sea life.”
The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), received $135 million from the plan. They in turn gave $471,905 of that taxpayer money to the Carnegie Institute in Pittsburgh for the “ongoing development” of an existing exhibit on Ancient Egypt. They gave $359,097 to the Science History Institute of Philadelphia to create a “multiplatform project exploring the historical roots and persistent legacies of racism in American science and medicine.” They gave $200,000 to the Chicago Humanities Festival to create “six humanities programs on racial justice, gender equality, and building an inclusive society,” reported Fox News.
One Twitter user said it well: “How much of Biden’s inflation causing $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan has been spent of gender ideology & Critical Race Theory crap in our public schools? Yet, not a dime of school protection. #NRA #ProFamily“
There’s more. $3.5 million was awarded to the American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS). This was for a grant program for colleges and universities to address “racial equity, climate change, international relations, pandemic recovery, and strengthening democracy.” In turn, the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, received a grant for its public humanities program that “advances social justice issues focused on three core tracks: public information, racial equity, and food and land justice.” Also in turn, The University of Hawaii at Manoa received some of the taxpayer money “to broadcast radio messages to all Hawaiian Islands from August 2022 through May 2023 on topics such as “‘social justice; Native Hawaiian rights & culture; compassionate & visionary leadership; surviving internment & racism during World War II; overcoming Black prejudice in Hawai’i; surviving pandemics & natural disasters & preparing for climate change.'”
Additionally, Fox News reported, the department of Gender, Race and Identity at the University of Nevada, Reno, received funding for “Community-based Knowledges and Visions for Racial, Health, and Climate Justice,” which included “a year-long collaborative programming series involving Northern Nevada’s underrepresented communities.”
And finally, Northern Arizona University got funding to revitalize two undergraduate programs that focus on “climate justice, racial equity, public health, immigrant inclusion, housing affordability, and equitable food systems.”
Democrats wasted much of our tax dollars on everything but “relief.” This and the sheer cost of the trillion dollar bill resulted in rampant inflation. Matt Whitlock Tweeted: These guys CHOSE to ignore every economist (including Dem economists) saying the American Rescue Plan would drive terrible inflation. They got it wrong because they wanted to pass a bill so they could say they owned the recovery. Instead they own the worst inflation in 40 years.”
And now you know why inflation is at the highest it’s been in 40 years. They spent way too much and wasted taxpayer money on fat. I’m not sure what your image is when you think of an “American Rescue Plan” that’s supposed to help America recover from the Covid-19 pandemic, but I venture to guess it’s not any of the above.
