The anchor of Meet the Press was in the middle of an anti-gun rant over the recent shootings in Buffalo, New York and Uvalde, Texas when he started going off on Conservatives praying for those who died and their grieving families. He also mocked people who say that mental illness is the root cause of the shootings.

“It’s become our uniquely American ritual of words after each episode of this uniquely American serial tragedy. Thought and prayers, nothing we can do,” the Todd exclaimed. “No law would have stopped this. The real problem is mental illness. If only the victims had been armed. More thoughts and prayers.”

It was at that point that Todd, a known supporter of liberal causes, declared that the 2nd Amendment of the U.S. Constitution “does not exist”.

“This current version of the Republican Party is being held hostage by a vocal minority obsessed with an absolute right that does not exist.”

Despite the claims by Chuck Todd on his show, the 2nd Amendment right to bear arms absolutely does exist in this country. Not only that, but it is the only right that doubles down on itself and says it cannot “be infringed”.

The 2nd Amendment reads: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

Chuck Todd’s comments follow recent similar notions being pushed by the White House. Last Friday Kamala Harris called for a national ban on “assault weapons” while attending a wake in Buffalo, New York. Over the weekend Biden made similar comments, also suggesting that they could look at restricting access to handguns as well.

The protections provided by the 2nd Amendment are interesting. While the right is specific about the government not infringing upon it, Congress does have the ability to add to and remove rights from the Constitution with enough votes. Do you think the US Government will eventually find a way to take away our right to bear arms? Is MSNBC trying to push people in that direction?
