In another major twist to the horrible mass shooting that occurred at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas last week, a new video exposed that police lied about their response.
Local police had previously insisted that they were unaware that children were still alive inside of the classroom that the gunman had barricaded himself into. They used this logic to justify an order from the Chief of Police to contain the gunman in the room for over 45 minutes instead of storming the room and trying to save the children.
In the new video it was revealed that this was all a lie. The video, obtained by CNN, contains radio audio from a Border Patrol agent on scene. The agent was speaking to an injured child inside the classroom.
‘Are you injured?’ the agent asked the child.
“I got shot!” the young kid says back.
An unidentified adult in the background can then be heard saying, “A kid got shot? A Kid?”
The new video follows the release of more damning footage released by ABC on Monday containing a 9-11 call in which the police dispatcher confirms they knew there were still children alive inside as well.
The 9-11 operator can be heard saying: “Room 12, are we able to .. is anybody inside of the building …’ the dispatcher asked. ‘2-1, child is advising he is in the room. Full of victims. Full of victims at this moment.”
The gunman was inside the school for 77 minutes in total before he was finally shot and killed by a border patrol agent after he broke the police order and stormed the classroom. Even worse, nearly 20 cops waited outside the room the gunman was in for 45 minutes as he slowly picked off the surviving children.
The Texas state government has since admonished the local police, saying they were lied to when the initial report was made. Following this response, the Uvalde police department announced they will no longer be working with state authorities to investigate the massacre.
The shooting was led by an 18 year old gunman who died on scene. He killed 19 children and 2 adults, with others having received serious injuries but survived. Do you think the police chief who gave the order to stand by should be punished? Should he go to jail?
