An MSNBC Host called out a Biden energy official named Brian Deese for lying to the American people by blaming gas prices exclusively on Putin.
The host of Morning Joe, Joe Scarborough, started by questioning NEC Director Brian Deese how they expect Americans to willingly place all of the blame for rising gas prices on Vladimir Putin.
“Brian, it’s true of course that Russia’s war in Ukraine is impacting oil prices, yes. But I promise you, the landscaper two days ago I talked to at the gas pump who was trying to fill up two cans and backpack blowers and mowers in his truck was not going ‘damn you, Putin.’ So what do you say to him? What do you say to families who can’t afford all their groceries right now?”
Deese attempted to stand his ground, insisting that the all-time high prices were the result of Russia’s military assault against Ukraine. The average price for gas in the United States passed $5.00 per gallon for the first time in history in the last week and has shot up since Biden took office in January 2021.
“That is the impact of war. It’s not fun, nobody likes it. But we have to stand against that aggression,” Deese replied. “So then the real issue is what can we do to blunt those increases and what can we do to get relief to families. And the thing I would say to them is that you have a president who is focused on saying ‘how can I blunt the increase in gas prices, how can I blunt the increase in oil prices but also how can I bring down the other costs that they’re looking at when they’re trying to figure out their monthly budget.”
Deese then claimed the Biden Administration’s work to lower the cost of utilities and prescription medicines were examples of them helping to relieve the pressure at the pumps.
While Joe Biden and his administrative officials may want to pass the buck on oil prices, calling it “Putin’s Price Hike”, many conservatives point to their early decision to end domestic oil production as the source of the price spike. Not only would this have given us a more ready supply, it would have also allowed us to supply more oil to our European allies, reducing Putin’s power in the region.
Do you think Joe Biden is responsible for the spike in gas prices? Do you think Putin would have quit his war already if Europe wasn’t forced to buy oil from him?
