5 Major Liberal Cities Seeing Massive Spike in Homicide This Year

Five of the biggest cities in the United States are dealing with a huge increase in homicide this year.

Los Angeles, Washington D.C., Baltimore, Milwaukee, and Atlanta are all on track currently to pass their 2021 homicide numbers despite being barely halfway through 2022.

The worst of the cities on the list was Milwaukee, Wisconsin which has recorded 96 homicides as of June 17 versus 77 at this time in 2021, a 24.7% increase.

Next up on the list was Washington, D.C. which saw 93 homicides as of June 17 compared to 82 at this time last year, a 13.4% increase.

Washington, DC

Atlanta saw a similar spike in homicides to DC as of June 11 with 68 compared to 60 at the same point in 2021, a 13.3% increase.

Then came Baltimore, which saw a smaller relative spike despite recording a massive number of homicides at 153 this year versus 142 last year, an increase of 7.7%

Last up by percentage but first on the list for overall count is Los Angeles. The city of angels has so far seen a whopping 162 homicides for 2022 compared to 151 at the same time in 2021, a 7.3% increase.

Los Angeles

One thing that all of these cities share in common is Democrat leadership. Democrats have recently pushed criminal justice reform in the form of cashless bail and lesser sentences for repeat offenders. Many of the cities pushing these reforms have been plagued with crime.

Notably the extremely liberal District Attorney of Los Angeles George Gascon is facing a recall over his failure to protect the city. The recall campaign recently announced they have enough signatures, 566,857, or 10% of registered voters, to force the recall.

Many on the left claim that liberal cities have seen a decrease in “violent crimes,” with many being burglaries and vandalism. This new data, however, shows a significant increase in one of the most violent crimes of all. What do you think caused this homicide spike?
