Newly elected Republican Representative Mayra Flores tore into Vice President Kamala Harris during an interview on Thursday.
Congresswoman-elect Flores, who represents a border district in Texas, was speaking with FOX News when she blasted VP Harris for her failures at the border.
“She’s honestly useless,” Rep Flores said. “I don’t know why she’s in that position. She hasn’t been here in south Texas to see what their policies are creating, the mess that they’re creating in our country, and that their policies are hurting real people.”
Kamala Harris was named as the border czar by Joe Biden shortly after he took office in 2021. She has frequently been criticized for not spending enough time on the issue.
Flores also interviewed with FOX’s Sean Hannity where she discussed flipping the historically blue district red.
“Well, I feel like the Democrat Party has walked away from the Hispanic community,” Flores told Hannity. “They’ve gone so far left, and they don’t represent our values. People always ask me, Mayra, how can you be a Republican whenever you’re born in Mexico? That clearly shows me they know nothing about our culture.”
Representative-elect Flores noted that while Democrats had alienated Hispanic voters, Republicans have become more appealing to this community thanks to their strong conservative values.
Mayra Flores won a special election against Democrat candidate Dan Sanchez for Texas’s 34th Congressional district, a seat that is 85% Hispanic and has never voted Republican. Flores’s victory will also make her the first ever Mexican-born Congresswoman in the history of the United States.
With large waves of migrants heading towards the US border and border patrol encountering 239,416 migrants in May alone, it’s no wonder Flores is critical of Harris. What do you think Kamala should do to secure the border?
