Famously liberal Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor defended conservative Justice Clarence Thomas after Democrat politicians called his integrity into question.

Sotomayor spoke to the American Constitution Society, a liberal legal group led by former Sen. Russ Feingold on Thursday. While there, she spoke out in favor of the ethical integrity of Justice Thomas after his wife was mentioned in the January 6th hearings.

“I suspect I have probably disagreed with him more than with any other justice,” Sotomayor said. “And yet, Justice Thomas is the one justice in the building who literally knows every employee’s name.”

“He is a man who cares deeply about the court as an institution, about the people who work there,” the liberal justice continued.

Many liberals have called for Clarence Thomas to resign from the Supreme Court after his wife Ginni was brought up during the January 6th hearings. The Committee said that Ginni had been in contact with Trump’s lawyer John Eastman regarding the 2020 election. They also said they wanted to speak to her.

Ginni Thomas was quick to respond to the request by the committee’s invitation, telling a reporter, “I can’t wait to clear up misconceptions. I look forward to talking to them.”

Justice Sotomayor also talked about the impending reversal of Roe v Wade by the Supreme Court. She said that they have to remember to “fight” back no matter what happens in the Court.

The Supreme Court Justice said, “There are days I get discouraged, there are moments where I am deeply disappointed. Every time I do that, I lick my wounds for a while, sometimes I cry, and then I say: ‘Let’s fight.'”

Many on the left still would like to see Justice Thomas step down. This would allow Biden to fill the seat with a new liberal justice, changing the overall vote of the Court. Why do you think Sotomayor defended her colleague?
