The Department of Justice (DOJ) announced that they will not prosecute a high level Democrat staffer who was caught vandalizing a republican office.
Timothy Duane Hysom, chief of staff for Rep. Jake Auchincloss (D-MA), was referred for criminal charges by Capitol Police after he was caught on security footage vandalizing seven pro-America posters outside of Marjorie Taylor Greene’s office.
Hysom, who previously worked for Rep Adam Schiff before being offered the Chief of Staff job, reportedly went over to various patriotic posters outside of Rep Greene’s office, putting stickers with taunting religious messages on them. He did this to a total of seven posters outside the office in the Longworth Congressional Office Building between January and March. When Capitol Police confronted the high-ranking Democrat staffer, he refused a non-custodial interview, instead choosing to retain counsel.
One such sticker read, “True Disciples of Christ don’t say the thing you say, act the way you act, and treat people the way you treat people.”
Another one of the stickers used showed a picture of Jesus that said “I never knew you, MTG. Love (a heart sign) GOD. Matthew 7:21-23”.
The arrest warrant for Hysom that the DOJ declined to enforce, read, “Based on the aforementioned, it is your affiant’s belief that the defendant, Timothy Duane Hysom … did violate DC Code § 22–3312.01 Defacing Public or Private Property.”
According to Just the News, it was the same US Attorney’s office that declined the arrest warrant that is also in charge of prosecuting the January 6th rioters.
The decision by the DOJ not to prosecute the staffer could simply be to avoid political drama, however it does make you wonder if him being a Democrat had anything to do with it. Do you think they would have arrested a Republican staffer caught doing the same thing?
