It can be hard to tell these days, who is a man and who is a woman. You might see what appears to be a man that’s pregnant. Or maybe the woman who cuts your hair was born a boy. So if you see a wanted ad that says to be on the lookout for a woman with a full beard, who’s to argue?
Recently, Toronto police asked members of the public to help them find a woman with this description: short hair, heavy facial hair, and a strong jawline.
The bulletin read: News Release – “Missing Woman, Ryerson Avenue and Bathurst Street area, Isobella Degrace, 27 https://tps.to/53329[.]” It included a picture:
The Toronto Police Service news release gave more detail: Isobella Degrace, 27, was last seen on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at 3 a.m., in the Ryerson Avenue and Bathurst Street area. She is described as 5’10″, with a thin build, shaggy blonde hair, and a full goatee. She was last seen wearing a black t-shirt and grey pants. Police are concerned for her safety.
Social media got ahold of the missing person release and, as could be expected, went crazy. Here are just a few posts:
“Men can get pregnant and women can grow beard. Don’t you know that?”
“Have you posted the wrong picture? Thats a man.”
This one is just a facial expression:
“I’m no biologist but….. I think… never mind[,]”
Ms. Degrace was located about nine hours after the Toronto missing person report went out, reported Fox News. Neither the Toronto Police nor Fox News made any corrections to the original missing person report.
Will you pay more for your 4th of July barbecue this year? We bet you d0.
Most people would think that a mistake was made by the police when they issued the report. Surely they included the wrong picture…but there was the description as well. We can’t take anything for granted these days and the person we are sure is a man, might just be a woman or vice versa. What do you think of all of this?
