On Wednesday morning, President Joe Biden arrived in Tel Aviv and gave his remarks on American-Israeli relations after Donald Trump negotiated the Abraham Accords. Biden had a slight trip up and said something shockingly inappropriate because he could not read his teleprompter.
“We’re going to deepen our connections in science and innovation and work to address global challenges through the new strategic high-level dialogue on technology. We’ll continue to advance Israel’s integration into the region, expand emerging forums and engagement,” Biden said then in the next section had trouble with his lines.
“To keep alive the truth and HONOR of the Holocaust… horror of the Holocaust,” said Biden.
On September 15, 2020, then President Donald Trump announced that the state of Israel, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain had entered into the Abraham accords with the purpose of normalizing relations between the countries. It marked the first time that a Muslim country had agreed to cooperate with Israel since Jordan did in 1994. It was a big deal that was largely ignored in the media.
In October of 2020, Trump announced that Israel and Sudan had agreed to normalize relations. Morocco quickly joined the agreement marking four countries that agreed to peaceful relations with Israel – effectively bringing peace to the middle east.
Last year, Jen Psaki said that Trump didn’t do “anything constructive” to end conflict in the Middle East. Meanwhile, President Joe Biden has embraced the Abraham Accords and is continuing to build on them but acting like Trump had nothing to do with them.
The first stop in Biden’s official visit was to the Yad Vashem World Holocaust Remembrance Center and followed an inspection of the Israeli air defense systems.
In pictures, Biden can be seen standing beside US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, and Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Antisemitism Ambassador Deborah Lipstadt. From the Israeli side, President Isaac Herzog, Prime Minister Yair Lapid, Defense Minister Benny Gantz, Yad Vashem Chairman Dani Dayan and Chairman of the Yad Vashem Council Rabbi Israel Meir Lau accompanied them, according to Israel Hayom.
Biden lit the Eternal Flame and laid a wreath on a memorial honoring Holocaust victims. Biden talked with two holocaust survivors and signed the guestbook at the memorial as well.
Why can’t Biden keep his lines straight? Could you imagine if a Republican had made a gaffe like this? Could you imagine if Trump had said this? He would be branded an anti-Semite for months. When Biden does it, it’s just crickets… Of course, it’s a slip of the tongue, but it’s just getting embarrassing at this point for our country.
